Every New Beginning Comes From Some Other Beginning’s End…

Today’s blog post was written by PPI-NI Managing Director, Gareth Harper.

PPI-NI says goodbye to a PPI-NI board stalwart and welcomes two new board members:

In December, long serving PPI-NI board member, Sean Wynne, hung up his sneakers as he retired from his board position. Serving as the organization’s Treasurer for almost 10 years, Sean helped the organization negotiate some pretty challenging financial waters and supported PPI-NI in striving for enhanced local financial autonomy and sustainability.  Both the global and local PPI staff team, as well as his fellow board members extend their sincere thanks to Sean for his hard work and dedication to the PPI mission and wish him all the best for the future.

The Semi Sonic song goes, “every new beginning comes from some other beginning’s end,” so as Sean leaves the board we are delighted to announce that Michael Morrow and Emma Gibson will be starting on their PPI-NI journey as PPI-NI’s newest Board members.

Michael has been volunteering with PeacePlayers for the past three years through PPI-NI’s partnership with the Study USA Alumni Association, of which he is the chairman. The Study USA program sends Northern Ireland students to American colleges for a year to study business, and has just celebrated its 20th anniversary. Michael studied management and computer science at Queens University Belfast and graduated in 2002 after having also spent a year at the University of Evansville, Indiana studying business. Michael works for the PRM Group of companies, which is his family business.

Emma is an experienced fundraising manager, having worked with the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) for 11 years, specializing in event fundraising, and community and small corporate fundraising in Northern Ireland. Emma holds a BSC (Hons) degree in Geography from Queens University Belfast and, like Michael, spent a year studying business in the US at Albright College in Reading Pennsylvania through the Business Education Initiative. She also holds the Chartered Institute of Marketing Diploma in Marketing. Emma is currently studying for the Advanced Diploma in Sustainable Investment for the Third Sector at the Ulster University. This is where she bumped into fellow student and PPI-NI Managing Director, me, Gareth Harper.

Emma and Michael will be joining a highly dedicated, passionate, and motivated team.   To all PPI board members; local and global; new and old; past and present; thank you for helping to move our mission forward – you really do deserve our appreciation.
