Patrick Doherty – NI ’05
Last December, Patrick got engaged to his girlfriend of 10 years and fellow Lafayette alum, Kristen Cahill. They are planning their wedding for August 2012.
Patrick is about to start his third season as an assistant basketball coach at Lafayette, and he has made consecutive trips to the Patriot League championship game in the past two years. He is trying to take that next step in 2012!
Tim Guinan – NI ’03, DC ’09
After almost eight years as a PPI employee and completing his MBA at George Washington University, Tim launched an operations consulting firm supporting nonprofits, called N Street Strategies. His clients include PPI, Experience Corps, DC Scores, Our Place DC and others. He is also entering his second year of teaching social responsibility at Georgetown University in the Sports Industry Management program.
Scott Hettermann – NI ’04
After passing the California Bar in 2008, Scott started a sports and entertainment consulting agency based in Los Angeles. This past year, he received an opportunity to be the personal trainer for the Prime Minister of Qatar. Scott has now lived in Qatar for about one year and has had the opportunity to see a lot of the world in his travels.
Brian Lemek – SA ’04
Brian is going into his sixth year as a nonprofit consultant with Community Counselling Services, a fundraising and development company. He has two little girls, Lillian (2) and Elizabeth (1). He is currently earning his MBA at Babson College, and looking forward to a trip to South Africa sometime in the near future to check out the program!
Kelly Lyons – NI ’08
Kelly is now the Director of External Relations at Up2Us, a national coalition of organizations using sport to improve their communities.
Will Maloney – NI ’10
Will left PPI-NI in June 2010. He has since stayed on in Belfast working as a film director and running his own voluntary organization, Interface Diaries. Interface Diaries uses video and creative media to create dialogue between young people living in segregated communities throughout Belfast. Interface Diaries ran a successful pilot in the spring, and are back working with more young people this fall and winter for the second installment. The aim is to make Interface Diaries a long-term program that uses a fresh concept to create a lasting impact. You can see a small clip here.
In the spring, Will wrote and directed a short film, “2p,” that competed in a competition for Virgin Media UK and was sold to a distributor stateside. You can check it out here. He is currently working on another film, “Cowboys and Dissidents” with Northern Ireland Screen, which will go into production in November.
Thibault Manekin – SA ’04
Thibault recently added a second son to his family, joining Finley Manekin. The new addition’s name? “Durban!”
Joshua Motenko – CY ’08
Joshua recently moved to Lamar, Colorado, for a new college coaching job, trying to work his way through the ranks. He is an Assistant Coach at Lamar Community College, an NJCAA D1 program.
Rahul Pasarnikar – SA ’07
Rahul has spent the last two years at Georgetown University completing his MBA, where he also helped to launch Georgetown’s Global Social Enterprise Initiative. He is currently living in Chicago, starting his new career with McKinsey & Co.
Geoff Schwarten – SA ’07
Geoff was married October 8th, 2011, in Cocoa Beach Florida to Katie Clark during an unnamed hurricane. So much for outdoor weddings!
Thibault Manekin served as Geoff’s best-man and Brian Shea traveled from Afghanistan (see below) to participate as a groomsman as well.
Geoff completed an MBA at the end of August at the Monterey Institute of International Studies, focusing his studies on entrepreneurship and Spanish. Recently he has been working on marketing consulting projects for several different clients, and he was selected to be a Venture Fellow for Investors’ Circle, an angel group that invests in early social enterprises and other businesses affecting social change. He is now looking to land the right job in impact investing.
Brian Shea – SA ’07, CY ’08
In April, Brian began working as a General Development Officer for the U.S. Agency for International Development. He is currently based out of Kandahar, Afghanistan.
Devin Tuohey – NI ’03
Devin began a new job at CityInterests, LLC, a real estate and investment company in Washington, DC, and recently added a new daughter, Rose, to his family, joining 2-year-old Clare.
Keith Urgo – NI ’03
After several years on the staff of Jay Wright at Villanova University, this summer Keith was named an Assistant Coach on the varsity basketball team at Penn State University.
