PPI’s Fall 2011 Bar Mitzvah All Stars

Many students in the US have chosen to support PeacePlayers International for their bar and bat mitzvahs, asking family and friends to donate to the organization in honor of their special day. This fall, two young men, RJ Goldberg and Sandy England, each organized and executed their own successful mitzvah projects supporting PPI.

RJ Goldberg organized his own basketball tournament to support PPI - Middle East.

RJ Goldberg, an 8th grader from Bedminster, NJ celebrated his bar mitzvah on October 29th. However, on October 2nd hosted a Mitzvah Tournament raising money for PPI – Middle East. RJ setup a fundraiser page on Razoo.com, asking all his family and friends to donate to participate in the tournament. The tournament had a great turn out! In all, RJ raised more than $5,000 to support our Arab and Jewish participants in Israel and the West Bank.

Sandy England, also an 8th grader, from Washington, DC, celebrated his bar mitzvah on October 21st. Sandy asked his friends and family to celebrate the event by donating to PeacePlayers as well. And although the bar mitzvah happened a month ago, PPI continues to receive donations on his behalf. In total, Sandy has raised more than $2,500 to support our kids all over the world!

Thank you to both of our Fall 2011 Bar Mitzvah All Stars! We look forward to passing on the torch to our next round of mitzvah projects this winter.
