As summer winds down and turns into fall, PeacePlayers International-Cyprus welcomed the new season in style by hosting over 100 friends, family and supporters at their annual Gala Fundraising Dinner.  While the weather marks a change seasonally here, it also marks a new season of re-establishing our programming efforts as our players transition into the new school year.

The Gala dinner, hosted alongside the rose gardens in the tranquil courtyard of the British High Commission’s Shakespeare House, brought together over 100 guests of PPI-CY. The dinner included guest such as Ambassadors from the US, Finland, Sweden, Ireland and Great Britain, as well as Mr. Vassiliou, the past President of The Republic of Cyprus.  The President of the PPI-CY Board of Directors, Jocovos Christofides, commented on the event, “It’s a beautiful setting to celebrate our successes alongside our partners and to connect with all of the individuals who continue to support us in our drive to raise funds for this program we are so deeply passionate about.”

PeacePlayers raised more than 4,700 euro, which will go towards the continued efforts in supporting PeacePlayers’ programming in both the Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot communities, developing more young leaders, and further bridging divides through the game of basketball.

PPI-CY staff would like to recognize the tremendous support The British High Commission put into making the evening an absolute success. Our young leaders took part in the event as well, volunteering as servers for the evening!  Thanks again to all those who attended, and to those who contributed to the fundraising efforts of PeacePlayers-Cyprus! It is this kind of cumulative support that provides the opportunities for kids across Cyprus to become game changers and Champions for Peace on our island.
