PeacePlayers – Cyprus would like to welcome Didem Eroglu as our new Turkish – Cypriot Administrative Coordinator. Didem will be assisting the PPI – CY staff in our communications with the Turkish Cypriot community, in the planning of PeacePlayers’ events and in the evaluation of our current programming within the north. Didem comes to PeacePlayers with a wealth of diverse experiences and we are excited to see what she will add to our team.
Tell us about yourself and your background?
I grew up in Nicosia, Cyprus and have spent most of my life here. I love spending time with people, especially my close friends and family. I studied Communications at Eastern Mediterranean University in Cyprus where I received my BA and then I recently completed my masters at the University of Reading in the UK in Environment and Development. I have experience working as a journalist, coordinator and communications expert both in the private sector, NGOs and international associations, including working for the EU.
How did you hear about PeacePlayers?
As I have been interested in working within Civil Society in Cyprus and our island is very small it is relatively easy to get to know the few main NGOs that are active on the island. I had friends connect me with the work of PeacePlayers and after learning about the organization I had the opportunity to attend several events.
What attracts you to PPI – CY?
I see PeacePlayers as a very positive and engaging organization; it has tremendous impacts on both communities in terms of the peace process, promoting sports and health and the development of the youth throughout the island providing them with opportunities to build friendships with one another.
What do you look forward to in your time with PeacePlayers?
I really like being a part of this organization already and I look forward to assisting PeacePlayers in growing their presence and recognition throughout the north.
