What We’re Tweeting

Can you capture the complexities of addressing deep communal divides through through sport in 140 characters or less? We don't know. But we'll try.

Those of you who have been to From the Field before have probably noticed the little Twitter feed box in the bottom of the column to the left. But we’d like to take a minute today to explain what exactly we have going on over at Twitter, so that you can all join the conversation.

First, it’s another way to get your daily dose of From the Field, as we’ll publish links to all our stories on Twitter shortly after they appear here. Second, each day we post a new picture – usually never before seen, sometimes from deep in our archives – so that you can see for yourself what peace through basketball looks like. Third, we have occasional features, like selections from the Hebrew English Arabic Basketball Dictionary (hasthtag: #BBallDxnry) that can help you “unleash the peace” to quote our Fellow in Cyprus, Rory. And of course, we’d like to have an ongoing conversation with all of you. We’ll respond to your questions, throw out some of our own, and pass along any interesting nuggets we find about sports, peace, development, our program countries, or anything else that might be of interest to you. Like this song for example, by a group called “Playing for Change,” which is sure to help you start your Monday a little bit more pleasantly than usual:
